Hay
Rabbits LOVE to munch on hay! The best type of hay for rabbits is timothy or grass hay. You can feed them as much as they care to eat, however, if you see them being wasteful with it, give a bit less. Alfalfa hay is generally not recommended for adult rabbits as it is to rich in proteins and calcium.
Rabbit Pellets
Pelleted feed that is formulated for rabbits can ensure they are getting the proper nutrition their systems require. Be sure to read the labels and select the best one for your particular rabbit, and feed the amount recommended on the label. Feeds higher in protein are usually reserved for pregnant or nursing does.
Our adult min lop rabbits are fed 1 cup of pelleted feed per day and a generous handful of grass hay to keep them busy for the day! The amount of feed your rabbit will require will depend on the size, breed, and purpose of your rabbit. Our nursing does are always allowed unlimited food, hay, and water. It takes a lot out of them to keep their babies fed and healthy!
Fruits, Veggies, and other Treats
Some people also feed their rabbits a variety of fresh fruits and veggies, but be careful, as some can be toxic to your bunny! Always do your research when introducing new foods, and give small amounts initially.
Some treats labeled for rabbits may be high in sugar and should be given sparingly. Treats with high sugar content can upset your rabbits system and cause diarrhea.
